MECA

Multicultural Education and Counseling through the Arts

Website redesign & poster series – Spring 2020

MECA began in 1977, growing out of the St. Joseph Fun ‘n Food Fest, the first citywide celebration of the various cultural groups that lived in inner-city Houston. St. Joseph’s Catholic Church in the Old Sixth Ward led the festival. The goal of this project is to reach more lower income families of all ethnicities and their children so that they are aware of the benefits of coming to MECA. I also aim to define the ways in which MECA can help children explore the arts now and in their futures. In addition, I aim to generate a reason for parents to bring their children to MECA. I want them to consider allowing us to help shape their children’s futures in the arts moving forward, even into college.
